Boekhandel Dominicanen — Modern Bookshop in a Medieval Cathedral

One of the topmost attractions of the Dutch city of Maastricht is a bookshop located in a medieval 13th-century Gothic church. The Dominican monastery was dissolved in the 18th century and later the building served different purposes until it became a bookshop.

While there’s nothing antique about the books sold here, you may enjoy the ambiance of the place reading a book while drinking a cup of coffee in an altar cafe.

There are three floors of the bookshop built within the volume of the old church, so it is also a chance to rise high in a medieval cathedral building and find a different perspective.
